Religion trotted briskly through the high grass. Her black coat gleamed in the summer sun, this made her stand out even more against the green background that surround her. Summer here was so much better than back home. 'Home?' she scuffed to herself. This place, Whispering Spirit, was now her home. She had chosen to leave, had chosen to come here well anywhere she could find. She came to rest in an open clearing. She reared throwing her black head in the air, her blue optics rolling around. Her hooves thundered back on the ground as she dropped back down. She bent her neck down as she snorted into the grass as it's sweetness almost burnt her nose. She bit off a mouth full, she looked up, her ears alert as she chewed. She had not been here long, not at all, but she was a bit surprise she had not seen any one. Not a hoof print or even a scent could she smell. She looked around again before she took another bite. she keep ever vigilant watch around her, watching, listening, smelling for another sign of someone other than herself.

Patton trotted into the mist evening. The sun burning the hairsoff his coat every milla second. And to make the day even better. There was a mare in the distance. She had a nice living frame. And no bones or ribs were near to her skin. And she was definetely beautiful. Now, Patton didn't want her as a slave. Or a prisoner. But it was the only way to have her in the bachelor shore. So he wuld simply nip her. Perhaps she didn't know the rule of that. Which made this attempt even better.
Patton stumbled his way down a small hill and over to where the mare was grazing in the meadow. He looked her up and down and smiled. She was lovely. And he went behind her. Rubbing his muzzle down her spine and near her rump. Then when he was about to nip, he backed away. What is a fine mare such as yourself doing down here on such a hot day? Its steaming just like your appearance. Patton said as his cremello body brushed up against hers.

She just about jumped when noticed another horse was approaching her. Well, at least she knew that there were others here. A stallion, not that she minded, but what would he want with her other than expanding his herd? She shivered as she felt his nose rub along her spine nearing her rump. She almost kicked out at him but he seemed to have read her thoughts and moved away. But not long after he rubbed his cream body against her black one. What is a fine mare such as yourself doing down here on such a hot day? Its steaming just like your appearance. She took a deep breathe before she answered him, she wanted to seem cool, and calculated. "Trying to relax, stay cool," she said as she moved back into the shade. She had not noticed the light sweat she had gotten making her black pelt gleam more in the falling sun light. "It is indeed very hot." she added ignoring both his comments about her choosing to believe he had not said them. She looked him over with her deep blue eyes, a handsome creamello, and compared it to her jet black pelt with no mar of white. "I am Religion, and you are?" she asked moving a bit closer to him but staying in the shade. She had hardly noticed the heat until he had arrived and now it seemed like thats all she could feel.

Patton sighed. Hello Religion, yes, staying cool is what everyone does on hot days, but I just dont seem to find what makes you different from all the others. I just cant put my finger on it! He said bowing down to her, his crown low to the ground and his audits perked up high. Then he became back levl with the mare. She seemed to be sweating. So he went in the shaded area and pushed her further to the cooler area. Hasn't anyone told you that the closest to the base is the coldest. Well today. If your hing under trees for shade..the base is the trunk. He said explaining to her sarcastically. Which was quite funny to him as he let out a chuckle.

She looked at him, "Different? Me? I'm not different at all, you must be mistaken." she added feeling that what she was indeed telling the truth. Religion did not see anything different within herself and she was beginning to think this stallion might be playing with her. She listened to him, Hasn't anyone told you that the closest to the base is the coldest. Well today. If your hing under trees for shade..the base is the trunk, she really did not see the humor in his statement but chuckled with him any way. "I am sorry but it seems I have missed your name, what is it?" she asked in a pleasing tone. She looked at him curious why he had not told her his name before. She had a sinking feeling he was backing her into the trunk of the tree but choose to ignore it. 'I don't know him, he could be very friendly' she thought trying to keep cheerful. She smiled at him hoping a smile would not only put him in a good mood but also steady her nerves.

Patton sighed. He was loosing his pride on getting this mare. Time to turn on the super nice switch. If it still worked. Patton, my name is Patton. Lead of the Bachelor Shore. He said in a sweet tone. But maybe his words would make her dislike him. Since he was, lead. Lead of the Bachelor Shore. Which that rank did scare some people. But honestly, Patton hadn't figured out why. Then Patton realized he had another question to answer. Yes, Different. I hope i'm not stepping over my bounds here but I find you very attractive. Even if you are a plain color. So am I.
Patton's stilts were beginning to fall tired. Want to lay down? He said to the mare as he was beginning to lay. His mane fell over his orb and his thick tail rested on the ground. He rolled over so he was on his back and he began to itch his lower back. Hopefully he didn't look like a total fool.

She nodded when he said his name, "Patton." She was not surprised to hear that he was a leader of a herd. But was a bit taking back, when he said he was the lead of the Bachelor Herd, then why was he here with her? Yes, Different. I hope I'm not stepping over my bounds here but I find you very attractive. Even if you are a plain color. So am I. She was a bit surprised to here him say he was plain in color, she had never seen such a like colored stallion. "I highly doubt any one sees you as plain in color." she scuffed as she rolled her sky eyes. "And no you are over stepping your bounds, you may have any option of me." She told him in reply to his comment. Then all of a sudden he began to lay down, was there nothing about Patton that did not surprise her. She laughed as he began to roll onto his back, and now she knew she would have to join him. "I guess I will gladly join you." she smiled as she looked down at him showing his cream-white underside. Once he finished rolling, she gracefully dropped down to her knees, then her hind followed in the same suit. She laid down next to him looking at him with curious eyes, 'Why was he here?'

Patton got up and shook his mane watching the brown dirt fly up high and then crash back down to where it belonged. The sun was finally fading. The day was ending. At sunset it seemed to halt forever. Which made it romantic. At least it's not as hot now. Patton said as he looked up in the horizon. It suddenly became quiet and a beat flowed through his mind and ears. He felt warm. And safe. Religion? Would you like to be, Patton paused. Then continued to speak. Lead? He said as he regained feeling and vocalness.

She stood up as she watched him shake the dirt from his light colored pelt. Noticing some still remaining pieces of grass and dirt she carefully cleaned it out of his mane with her lips. She followed his eyes and saw the sun setting, she could not believe how fast the day had gone. She looked back at Patton and watched the last warm rays of the sun dance along his cream body and smiled. Something about this moment touched her and it seemed the world was holding its breathe. Religion? Would you like to be, "Yes?" she said when he paused. She was quite curious to hear what he had to say. Lead? Lead? 'Of what?' she almost said aloud but held her tongue. Was he asking her to be lead mare of his herd? He was the lead of the Bachelors? Meaning no mares? This whole thing was a contradiction of itself. She looked at him and if she could have one of her eyebrows would have been raised. "Patton, I'm sorry if I'm being slow, but what do you mean by lead?" She asked him as she reached out and touched his nose as if to bring him back to her. Religion was very confused and now her previous thought was true, anything he did surprised her. And maybe thats what he was going for. But so far he had been kind and friendly with her, if he had wanted to he could have claimed her with a simple nip. But he had not, he asked her instead, or so thats what she believed him to be doing.

Patton stepped closer to religion. Would you like to be my lead mare? You could visit the bachelor's because you could be my lead mare! Obviously the other stallion's loves will be visiting there too, so you could meet them....so, what do you say? yes or no? He said in no serious tone. He was silent after. And he saw the darkness come as the sun had finally set. He stepped even closer to religion, but leaving her some personal space too. He looked her in the eye. She was gorgeous. He had to say that in his mind over and over again.
