Tragedy looks into the pool at the end of the waterfall. Droplets fell on her like rain, 'Of course like rain.' She thought. She walked around the pool looking for a good place to enter. Not really find one place better than another she jumped in the cool pool. She swam around cooling her dark body off. She did not stay in long before she crawled back out of the clear water. She shook off the water that clung to her pelt. 'Rain droplets again' she mused as she saw it rest on the blades of grass. Tragedy looked around her at the world but really only saw the shadows. She looked around her ears facing forward listening for someone. But no one could be seen. Perfect, no one around, if she was lucky no one had claimed this place and she could stay here by herself for a while. If she was unlucky, well she decided not to think about it at that point in time. She bent her head to the green ground and began grazing.

He had been grazing on the far side of his home, peacefully basking in the warmth the late morning sun brought. That was, until the winds changed, and carried the scent of another to his nares. Lifting his regal head high, the golden stallion took a deep breath, recognizing the scent as that of a femme. With ears perked in interest, the stag made his way closer. Not too long after beginning his search, he found her.
She was a pretty mare, a blue roan, uncommon here as far as he knew. Approaching her slowly, he dipped his head in greeting. “Hello there,” he said, his voice laced with a thick accent, “I am Kaius, lead of this land. May I be so generous as to have your name?” His voice was kind and respectful, for he didn't want the mare to run off. He knew that to gain loyal members of his herd, it would have to be done slowly and not against their will.

Tragedy eyed the stallion before her. He was not swore to her eyes but looks could be deceiving. She knew this first hand how a kind word and a pretty face could get just about anyone to do anything. Her body tensioned as the thought to run came across her mind. But his body language spoke other wise. He walked to her slowly, not too close, he dipped his head in greeting before he spoke, Hello there, I am Kaius, lead of this land. May I be so generous as to have your name?” His words were kind and his voice seemed to ring with respect. She again looked at him as him he might turn into a snake and bite her but she did not move. When he did nothing she supposed if he had a plan of taking her by force, or such, he would have done so already. And really he had done nothing to provoke her so she would grant him her name. "Hello . . . I am Tragedy." She said bowing her head since it was the proper respect to a lead. Her voice was clear but quite. When she was met with silence she wondered if the roar of the water fall over powered her little voice. Maybe he did not hear her name and would go away thinking she did not want to speak to him. Some how she knew this stallion, Kaius, would not do such a thing. Cowards generally were not lead stallion and if they were-not for long.

Kaius noticed that the fae seemed a bit hesitant, but after a few moments, she did answer. Her voice was quiet, and he had barely heard her utter her name. Tragedy. He pondered it for a bit rolling the name around in his head before replying. “My...what a tragic name for such a pretty being,” he began, a small smile lifted his lips, “Then again, you have but to know an object by its proper name for it to lose its dangerous magic.” His words were cryptic, and seemed even more so when spoken with the stag's untraceable accent. Inky eyes were alight with interest in this new being, and Kaius didn't know which questions to ask. He didn't want to push her away by bombarding her with words, so thought carefully about what he wanted to say. He opened his mouth to utter his next words, when the deafening noise of the waterfall truly struck his senses. “Perhaps you would like to move a bit away from the falls? To a spot a bit quieter?”

Tragedy felt oddly comforted by his words. Though for a moment they did not make much sense. But than again wasn't there a fine line between genus and madness? She was sure there were times she did not make much sense either. If she ever did make sense. She signed and smiled a little. As she felt the corners of of her lips turn up she was surprised but tried to hide it. She had to admit it was the first time someone had gotten her to smile in a long time, she could not even remember her last smile. As soon as this thought came acrossed her mind she returned to her neutral face. She was not sure why she had smiled but she had. And in a sense Tragedy felt like Kaius now had a power over her. 'I need to be more careful," she snapped at herself in her mind. She could not and would not allow someone to break down her walls and burrow themselves in only to rip her apart. Perhaps you would like to move a bit away from the falls? To a spot a bit quieter?” She shruged but walked towards him not getting too close. She had to agree the noise of the water fall was continuously ringing in her ears. She was glad he said something, it might be easier for him to hear her as well. She realized she did not know her way around here and she was sure Kaius, being the lead, would know his lands better than most. "Um . .. how about . . yyou lead?" she mumbled as she reached out and touched his shoulder with her nose. She moved away from him afterwards feeling rather embarressed. She did not know what had come over her driving her to touch him. Maybe she was afraid he had not heard her or maybe just the simple contact was what she wanted. She had to admit she was a bit lonely and missed the gentle touch of a friend.

He had noticed the small smile cross Tragedy's features before it disappeared, but that was all the confirmation he needed. The simple act of smiling told Kaius that he had, in some type of way, gotten to her, and he only hoped he could get closer. The golden stallion had listened as she mumbled something about him leading, before tapping his shoulder gently with her nose. His smile only widened as he dipped his head, “Of course,” he replied. Turning a bit, he made his was for one of the larger oak trees that littered the land, figuring it was far enough away from the waterfall that the two would be able to hear each other, and yet open enough so that Tragedy didn't feel closed in or trapped. As they walked, the stud made sure to stay a respectable distance from the mare, turning his head a fraction of an inch over his shoulder every now and then to see if she was still following him. A sudden thought made it's way into Kaius' mind, and before he could stop himself, the thought left his lips. “There was an old saying I was taught when I was a mere colt,” he began, pausing for a moment before continuing, “that trust is like a double sided blade. It takes much time to gain it, and only a mere moment to break it.” As the memory flashed in the stallion's mind, his smile dimmed a bit. He remembered the old stud who had taken him under his wing, treating him as the heir to his herd. Kaius had always felt that he let the herd down, when those other stallions ganged up on him to take the lead position, jealous of the once young and proud stallion that had been pampered and treated like he was special all of his life. As an afterthought, Kaius added to his statement, “I abide to that saying strongly, you know.”

Tragedy followed behind Kaius staying just close enough to hear his words, There was an old saying I was taught when I was a mere colt, that trust is like a double sided blade. It takes much time to gain it, and only a mere moment to break it She nodded in agreement. A sudden thought popped into her head, "Yes, I have my own saying of trust," she paused thinking if she should tell him," you know trust is like a mirror you can fix it if it's broken but you can still the crack in the mother fuckers reflection." she said. When he finally stoped they were near an old oak. There a moment of silence before he said anything, I abide to that saying strongly, you know She looked at him, "Really?" She asked him raising an invisible eye brow. Her eyes searched him, not only physical but almost mentally. She knew there where few who really followed such a rule and maybe he was that few. But she was not all that willing to find out. At least not until she some how thought differently.

He nodded, “Yes, really,” a soft chuckled left his lips before he became a bit more serious. “Has your past been so bad that you cannot believe some stallions are capable of being trusted?” His voice was soft and a bit sad. He detested those stags out there who treated mares like they were nothing more than prizes to be won and stolen. To him, they were beautiful gifts to the world that had to be cared for and protected with ones' life. Then there would eventually be a time when one, or more if you were lucky, would bear your offspring. It was all a wonderful continuation of the circle of life. Kaius had had these words burned into his mind by his illegitimate father, and he knew better than to purposely disrespect any mare. As the stag came back to his thoughts, his optics refocused on Tragedy, “Pardon me...I was thinking of something else.”

Tragedy looked at him. Why did he care so much if a stag had been bad to her. Not that it was a just a stag but her own mother. No one had ever asked her and she had never told any one either. She sighed and guessed he should have an explanation of herself. She at least owed it to him for being so kind, "It's not just stallions, I don't trust anyone." She said. "Being abandon by one's own mother than left to a ruthless lead stallion does this to a person." She was surprised in herself she was being way too formilar with him. She says looking up at him. She sighed, "I'm . . Ii'm sorry sure you ww-were nott lookin' ffor a life sstoryy." She studded looking down at the ground, she would have been looking at her hooves but she could not see them. She felt embarrassed for being so open. She was never like this, she never talked about herself, never smiled, she never. Kaius, this stag, was different but was a good thing?

Kaius gently nudged her shoulder, “Do not apologize for sharing your past, I am grateful that you shared it with me in the first place.” The golden stallion thought about what she had said earlier, and felt true sadness for what had happened to the mare. “You know a grudge is a heavy thing to carry,” he said gently, turning to look at the pretty fae, “Maybe you should try and forgive those that have hurt you. Not for their sake, but for yours. I cannot tell you that I have experienced the same, for I would be lying, but I can tell you what I have gone through. I did not know my father, and my mother was stolen by another stallion soon after I had stopped completely depending on her. I had the good fortune to be chosen by the lead to be his heir, so I was trained for the position. However, by the time I took the position, there were a few stallions who had not been happy with the old lead's choice, and so when I inherited the power of being a lead, they revolted and chased me out. I was bitter and angry at them at first, but then I forgave them...so I could move on.” Kaius smiled gently “Maybe you should try to do the same.”
