Innocent eyes overlooked the lifeless estate. Hope for a companion was tormenting to the frame, lonely he's never been. Always near someone full of love, it felt odd to be amongst himself in a unknown land. His features showed that off happiness, ears forward and listening and head nice and leveled. Narrow strides carried the basic frame through the open field, the amount of energy he used to move through the heated springs was useless. Every step was a task, each one much more stressful than the last.
Extending the distance between his start and where he was going, though, where he was going was almost impossible to determine. Every stride came a new scene, much more beautiful than the first, until it took to much energy to move on any further. Residing in a nice canopy of the branchy floor.
Sinking down to his knees he hated the moments he spent alone, nothing he could ever get used to. The shade of a tree left a wonderful area to sleep in serenity.

The summer sun is ruthless on this unbearable afternoon. Heat rolls off of the earth in waves, and the air seems to sit and simply absorb the heat, crushing any sort of breeze that may be coaxed into life. Summer's been brutal this year, as if the season is exerting it's full power to heat every day to the fullest. The flies thrive, buzzing about in the baking sky to annoy any other life form they pass too close to.
In the caverns, however, summer life has taken a very different turn. The stone walls keep the tunnels cool and breezy, and the lack of life keeps most of the flies at bay. It's here that Gwen has spent most of her day, lazily exploring the labyrinth of passages. It's a small, twisting system, full of dead ends and small, cool caverns. It's in one of these alcoves that the dun mare is now resting, biding her time until the sun sets and the outside world cools down.
It seems fate is trying to draw her out early, however. A stallion, bay in color, flops to the ground near the mouth of the cave, in plain view of Gwen. He stretches out lazily in the shade, though a tangible sense of loneliness is detected by the mare. Acting on impulse, she takes a few steps forward, hooves clacking against the stone pathway. "It's much cooler in here, you know."

Darkness was in the view of me, eyes relaxing as my body rested on the floor of nowhere. Just as a yawn hit me a voice approached, a mare it sounded like. Frantically getting on my feet I faced the dun frame, relieved that the race of equines still existed. "I guess it might be," I spoke, taking a step forward to where she directed, dipping my head in respect.
Awaiting a reaction from the mare, I was committed to having a companion.
