Kalix pressed his paws against the ground. His long vine tail carryed behind him like a snake. Swaying back and forth as his shoulders rolled back and forth as he walked. His deadly red eyes crawled along with his body. He was looking for food for him to store for the incoming seasons. The foliage was all dead up in the mountains due to heat waves and storms. That's why the mountain lions were traveling every day down from the mountains. The food was plentiful down here. Which created a good mood for him today since he had collected many deer remains and had stored them in hiding. Mountain lions were very clever and smart especially sneaky as to how they did things and why. Today Kalix was heading out to this rocky terra land. His ears held high and perked for any sound waves and vibration that was rumbling in the air, but for now...it was completely silent.
After a few minutes passed Kalix yawned of waiting. His tongue sprang out. And he licked his fur covered lips. Putting his extended front legs infront of him he bowed down as a stretch. And then lowered his back legs making his position be him laying down. He layed his head on his paws and rapped his tan vine around his hind leg paws. Kalix rolled on his back and scratched behind his ear. Then he passed out in a few minutes. He snored loudly, hopefully alerting all animals around him that he was there and had a place. No reason.

The chestnut mare, being her usual out-going and inattentive self was strolling through the rocky terrain at a brisk jog. Her stocky build carried her bulk with easy, her pretty head set atop of powerful neck. If her mind was not trapped in such a powerful mind-set, and she'd had the personality of a mature mare, she would had definitely made a powerful, impressive figure. Sadly, she had a childish look about her muscular bulk as she trod upon this land.
Of course, she almost missed the sound of the cougar's snores as she wove her way over the more steady batches of rocks. However ,her harks swiveled atop her dome and she stopped, peering over at the cat as she approached, a little louder than she probably should have. But she had the sense to at least keep her distance. Her ears were pricked forward, her neck stretched out so she could take in the scent of the cat. Her muscles were on full alert, ready to send her bolting at any time the thing moved.

Her pink tongue pulsed in a constant, heavy pant, and her ears lay flat against her tan head. She hated summer. The heat and the flies and the fact that she nearly suffocated beneath her thick coat with warmth. It was even more prominent in this lower region, for at least the altitude in the mountains helped to cool things off. Here, on this decrepit little hill, she had nothing but a blot of shade to keep the sun from her back.
Ears flick forward at the sound of approaching paw-steps, accompanied by a familiar scent. Kalix, her mate, had returned. Of course, he had nothing to show for a day prowling the lower lands. It was aggravating, to say the least. The lions had been sure this was where the ungulates had fled when the flora had died in the heat. All she'd seen, however, were the scrawny mountain hares, which were too stringy and small for even a starving puma to consider catching.
The male lion didn't even utter a greeting before he flops over to sleep, his enormous body stretched across the baking earth. Dark ears fall once more, though the female stays silent. Until he starts with the retched snoring however. Her lips pull up in a snarl, a quick snap at him flicking off of her tongue. "Kalix!"
It's all she can get out before another, more enticing scent fills her nostrils. An equine mare, much too strong to dismiss as a trick of the wind. Before another though can run through her head, however, the chestnut appears on the horizon, her small, bulky body trotting obliviously through the land. Yellow optics widen with both anticipation and fear, for with his incessant snoring, Kalix might as well be chasing the thing off. "Shut up!" She hisses beneath her breath, wary of the sensitive equine ears. She slinks out of view beneath the rock formation before the chestnut's seen her mate, though it's only a second before the equine optics light with surprise. They've been spotted.

Kalix twitched his leg and ear, both at the same time. His smaller nostrils had sensed an equine near. Kalix opened his right eye and saw the fae. Then he rolled his eyes back and saw Kirabo, his mate. He shook his neck and stretched. Yawning once more on the solid earth before gettin up and grabbing his claws in the earth with his steel claws. He looked at the mare. Giving her an evil eye. Most horses wouldn't stand around when they saw two lions, especially ones that were total badasses. It should come as a reflex. Not a learning ability through life.
Has anyone told you that when you see two lion kinds, you RUN! Kalix said with piercing tone. He chuckled after. His laugh stinging the air like a needle popping a balloon. The chestnut mare looked so confident in herself. Then Kalix looked back at Kirabo. He stepped back. If this mare was anywhere near smart or even close to that she would have the instinct to waddle herself away from close death.

Well, it was quite obvious by now that Symbol's screws weren't all in right. She had a habit of getting into trouble that most normal equine instincts would have kept her out of. As the cats began to move, her muscles twitched for her to run, and it didn't take more than the first word of the male's sentence to get her going. All 16 hands of the sturdy-boned, well-muscled mare spun on her heels and bolted away down the side of the rocky hill. She stumbled every now and then, as her hooves skidded over loose pebbles. She was very glad that the slope was very slight here.
But even with the slight slope, her bulky body was just not made to navigate such loose, rocky terrain and she was hardly going as fast as she'd have liked to. The words of the cats were swimming her head and every time a loose pebbled clattered onto another, she was sure it was the cats closing in on her, causing her to give a little leap.
Her large heart was beating horribly in her chest, the veins over her neck and shoulders visible in the hot summer air. Her velvet nares were flared as she sucked in as much air as she could to keep her muscles working in top condition. She couldn't remember being this scared in her life!

He's taunting the mare, egging her on and giving her a head start in this race. Their stomachs are empty and they haven't killed an equine yet, but, as was Kalix's way, he decided to run his mouth. With a quick hiss, the she-cat leaps to her feet as the equine spins around, cuffing her mate on the side of the head. "You idiot!"
With that, she bounds after the chestnut creature, her strides long and graceful; a predators gait. Well evolved paws grip the sliding rubble easily, giving the lion near-perfect traction. She's designed for the hunt, for the final moments of the unfortunate creatures sorry life. It's here, in this timeless struggle, that one is truly defined. Her chest heaves, her ears are flattened to her head. Her mate has been forgotten, somewhere deep in the recesses of her brain. All sense are trained on the struggling mare before her, on the sliding hooves and the blood that flows through her veins. Blood that will soon stain the rocks with crimson.
Muscles tense in a final, powerful leap as the she-cat makes an attempt to launch herself onto the horse's back. Toes are splayed, long, terribly curved claws fully exposed. She's ready to sink them through the equines thick hide, to tear with tooth and nail through her skin and into the sinews and muscle below. This single mare could feed herself and her mate for days. Kirabo needs this kill.

Kalix yawned. He was too tired to run or fight. Too tired to do anything with movement. But since Kirabo was already ahead of him. He decided to catch along with the two. And so he tried. His long elastic legs stretched out along with his tired and clenched muscles. The rocky terra beneath him was easy to grasp on to with his bent claws. His breathing became heavy and his fur started to burn with the rays of light directly setting on his tan back. His teeth clacked shut alerting both his mate and the mare that he was behind. His head swung back as he watched small pebbles fly behind him. His head came back and he saw Kirabo only a few yards ahead of him. He leaped in the air and landed with his four legs sharpened with claws. He was now directly beside Kirabo in the run for food.
After chasing the beast for minutes Kalix twisted his head so his nose was at Kirabo's large tan ear. Im about to loose my legs! Kalix said as a joke. But his legs were really getting quite tired from all this running about. And this place had barely any trees...only rocks that gave caution as they might fall and not a lot of shade.

i normally didn't stay in places where i didn't have room to use my lengthy legs to run. i mean, agility wasn't a problem for me, but once i was on an open stretch, i couldn't be touched. the thoroughbred in my wouldn't allow it and the arabian in my wouldn't allow another to run longer. i was a rather beautiful figure with a pelt the color of the purest ivory and eyes as black as the darkest jewel. i stood at sixteen two, and had the elegant looks of an arabian, but the lean build of a thoroughbred. my sesnes were heightened from spending most of my life traveling. nothing could really sneak up on me without me knowing. and now, why i was getting that feeling of panic and hunger all in one, confused the hell out of me.
i searched, and finally laid my eyes upon a sorrel fae moving quickly, a look of fear masking her face. i couldn't see anything else, but as soon as i smelt it, i knew it was cougar. i pinned my audlits and pushed off with my hindquarters, launching into a gallop. i cut off at an angle, leaping over boulders and logs that stood in my way, charcoal daggers slamming into the earth viciously. i cut hard right and slid to a stop, blocking the path that the fae was running. i lifted into the air, rearing high. cougars didn't instill fear within my soul or make me want to flee. i wasn't a normal equine for that, but i didn't care. i pinned my audits, glaring at him. come on lions, take on someone who can handle you. i hissed, smoky mug curling up over glossy teeth.
